The Georgia Forestry Foundation’s new education initiative, “Forestry: A Foundation for Our Future” is giving 5th through 12th graders the opportunity to compete in a contest to express the value of Georgia’s sustainable working forests through submission of an artwork and slogan. The Atlanta Association of Legal Administrators (AALA) sponsors a scholarship to be awarded to an outstanding senior enrolled in one of our local public high schools. The Alpha Iota Delta chapter of Chi Psi Fraternity is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a qualified young man entering Georgia Tech in the fall of 2014. The scholarship is being given in honor of Bro. The Cobb Chamber of Commerce, under the direction of the Leadership Cobb Alumni Association, sponsors the Cobb Youth Leadership program. The program focuses on developing leadership skills through interactive participation. Participants meet local, state and national leaders helping to frame their leadership style for the future. Students will have the opportunity to meet and learn from their peers as they expand their own leadership skills. Applicants must be Cobb County residents attending a Cobb County high school as juniors for school year 2014-2015. All applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 25, 2014. Ms.Betty Gray is a lifelong educator in Cobb County. She has served as a teacher, counselor, principal, and board member. She values education and is a tireless advocate for students in the South Cobb communities. The Betty Gray Scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to graduating seniors who aspire to further their educational pursuits at either a two-year or four -year institution of higher learning.
